WWE: John Cena Returns to Monday Night Raw and Challenges Austin Theory for United States Championship at WrestleMania 39

John Cena made a grand comeback to Monday Night Raw in Boston, sending the fans into a frenzy as he made his way into the ring.

The WWE superstar, who hadn’t appeared on the red brand for quite some time, booked a match against Austin Theory for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 39.

Theory, the current United States Champion, walked out to address Cena and offer him a “gift” – a match at WrestleMania 39 with the title on the line.

However, Cena initially declined, stating that Theory had not earned the right to give him such a “gift.” Cena went on to explain that Theory lacked heart and soul and that the fans did not believe in him.

“You’re a generic kid in fancy sneakers wearing sunglasses indoors and you got nothing in here,” Cena said, pointing to his guts. “And dude, I’m not talking to you from a high place. I’ve walked in your shoes. There’s a sign out there that says ‘Austin Theory is a John Cena wannabe.’ Dude, I’m your ghost of Christmas future. And right now, you’re in that phase of ‘Ruthless Aggression.’ And ‘Ruthless Aggression almost got me fired. What a great opportunity it was, but you could see I didn’t believe in myself, and the opportunity just wasn’t enough.”

Cena further stated that Theory was wasting everyone’s time and that he was only a pair of trunks away from being a jabroni.

Theory fired back, questioning whether Cena was giving up and whether he was living up to his calling card – Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect.

However, Cena clarified that he did not say no because he gave up. He said that Theory was not ready but left the decision up to the fans, and they agreed that a match was in the best interest.

Thus, Cena vs. Theory is now set for WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles.

John Cena, who last fought on Dec. 30 on SmackDown in a tag-team match with Kevin Owens, defeated Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn, keeping his yearly streak of WWE in-ring appearances alive.

Before that, Cena faced off against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021.

On Raw, he last wrestled live in a fatal four-way against Finn Balor, Baron Corbin, and Drew McIntyre.

John Cena’s triumphant return to Monday Night Raw in Boston has set the stage for a high-octane WrestleMania 39 match against Austin Theory for the United States Championship.

It remains to be seen who will come out on top in what is sure to be an epic showdown.
